Author Guidelines

Acceptance Criteria

To provide for efficiency in review process, authors are asked to pay particular attention to compliance with the Editorial Policy and Notes for Contributors. Papers should be readable, evidencing well-research and economy in their presentation.

  1. Papers submitted to the Journal must be written in English and should not be submitted for consideration for publication elsewhere.
  2. All papers are published subject to review by double blind referees
  3. The paper must be submitted in the form of Microsoft Word file, and papers submitted must meet the style requirements of the Journal
  4. Referees are required to comment on the following aspects of a submitted papers: originality, contribution, comprehensiveness, relevant and relevance
  5. All papers are to be presented in a conventional academic paper format, with a strong emphasis on structure and quality and of good communication skill.

When submitting your final article, please include a soft copy as email attachment of your manuscript prepared on a PC-compatible computer in Microsoft Word.

  1. The cover page of manuscript should contain

    • The title,
    • Name(s) of author(s) and
    • Institutional affiliation(s) of the author(s).
  2. At the bottom of this cover page, provide the name, address, phone, fax numbers, and e-mail address of the corresponding author.
  3. Include an abstract of not more than 150 words on the first page after the title and the name(s) of the author(s).
  4. Submission fee policy, in line with international practice papers are submitted with enclosed payment for submission fee. As a rule the amount will be paid once the paper is accepted.
  5. For the journal we require submission fee only when the paper submitted has been accepted by the Editors and will be published in the Journal. Therefore, submission fee is paid after acceptance, just before printing the journal.

Preparation of Copy

Manuscripts should be typed in journal format on one side of the paper only. The page format should be A4, double spaced (including notes and references), with a margin of at least 1 centimetre on the left-hand side. The size of the text should be 12 point, Times New Roman. 
Notes should be shown in a single section and placed before the references under the heading. “Notes”. All such notes should be indicated by a superscript figure in the text. All tables and figures should be shown on separate sheets at the end of the paper and their position should be noted in the text.

The convention for citation in the text is as follows

Adeola & John (2010), or (Adeola & John, 2010) or (Adeola & John, 2010, pp. 25-35) for specific quotations. If more than one publication by the same author(s) in a particular year is cited then the conventions Mark (2008a), Mark (2008b) should be used. If a paper with three or more authors is cited then all names should be given in the first citation, subsequently et al. should be used.
All references must be listed in full and in alphabetical order at the end of the paper in the style given below:

  • Howell, K. E. (2007) ‘Cultural Perspectives in the National Assembly for Wales: Identifying Path-Dependency’, Critical Moments and Critical Junctures. Contemporary Wales, Vol. 19 pp. 38-56. Cardiff: University of Wales Press.
  • Husserl, E. (1992). ‘The Crisis of European Science and Transcendental Philosophy’, Northwestern University Press: USA.

Proofs and offprints

Authors must correct proofs as soon as possible make no revisions to those proofs. No payments are made to authors. Authors submitting a manuscript do so on the understanding that if it is accepted for publication, copyright in the article, including the right to reproduce the article in all firms and media, shall be assigned exclusively to the publisher.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
